Despite the attempts of the old guard on the Forest of Dean District Council, the current alliance of Councillors that form the current Cabinet is again showing what can be achieved when politicians of differing views work together.
Our Green Councillor, Chris McFarling, has been successful in getting overwhelming support for a bottle deposit scheme in the Forest which will reduce the amount of littering and environmental damage from discarded plastics.
This sensible and practical step will help to address one of local residents' main concerns and will also set an example of how other local authorities can implement Green policies.
The Forest of Dean District Council Cabinet currently consist of Green Party, UKIP, Lib Dem and Independent councillors and is showing how politics can work in the interests of all residents through informed debate and compromise.
We are starting a campaign for a Pesticide-Free Forest. Visit our campaign page for more information.
